Just before 11:30am ET, October 31, 2019, the House had enough votes – with 232 for and 196 against, largely along party lines, as Democrats Collin Peterson of Minn. and Jeff Van Drew of N.J. voted no – to adopt the resolution that puts Trump on the path toward impeachment.

With the passage of this measure, Democrats will now begin public impeachment hearings to investigate whether Trump should BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE for pressuring Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden and his son along with other possible misdeeds.

It will take weeks or more before the House decides whether to vote on actually impeaching Trump. Eventual articles of impeachment would be drafted by the Judiciary Committee for a final floor vote to impeach the President. If the House does vote for impeachment, the Republican-led Senate would hold a trial to decide whether to remove the President from office.

Note that every Republican opposed the resolution, while two Democrats joined them. A solid Republican “no” vote is a loud signal to the GOP controlled Senate that the Democratic push is essentially a partisan crusade against a duly elected President they have never liked.

President Trump has blasted the investigation as a political “witch hunt,” and has insisted that there was no “quid pro quo” proposed during his communications with Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky.

Note: The Moon Void of Course on the Ascendant of the event chart, along with the Mercury being retrograde augur that nearly all House Democrats will vote for impeachment and all House Republicans will vote against it. Such a partisan vote will deny constitutional legitimacy to impeachment.
