The March 24th New Moon at 04°11′ Aries marks the beginning of a new annual cycle as it occurs shortly after the Aries Ingress – the astrological New Year on March 19th. The New Moon is within orb to the World Point (0° Aries), signifying a dramatic out-rush of archetypal power and planetary force on the world stage, and making this a challenging New Moon that seems appropriate given the dramatic and unprecedented circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic, and the escalating financial market meltdown threatening recession due to the breakdown of global supply chains exacerbated by the worldwide coordinated effort to slow down and stop the spread of the coronavirus.

The New Moon conjuncts the Mercury/Uranus midpoint, signifying a period of somewhat excitable high-strung disposition with rapidly changing moods and thoughts. However this combination inspires one to be adaptable to the changing circumstances and unexpected developments happening in the world.

The New Moon forms a square to the Lunar Nodes, suggesting a heavy period where under stress one is apt to close down the flow one’s emotions, ignoring one’s own needs and feelings in order to do one’s required duty or simply to deal with the harsh practical realities of what the situation requires. Therefore, reconnecting with loved ones, family and friends along with developing tenderness, caring, feeling, and nurturing aspects of oneself is an important during this period.

The New Moon is quintile Pluto indicating this is a period of finding creative solutions that requires ingenuity as well as strength or will power to respond effectively when there are unexpected surprises. During this period, one is likely to begin to enjoy films, books, poems, and other works that treat issues like death, jealousy, mysteries, hidden conspiracies, provocative and controversial subjects, the underworld, or the psychological depths and complexities of people and the world. Therefore, psychoanalysis, investigating your dreams, and other methods of uncovering secrets will become very interesting during this period. One will likely become more perceptive intuitively or psychically as a result of personal crises triggering deeper a deep transformation within.
